Nourish Your Mind With Good Energy

Good Energy

“Mild symptoms today should be seen as clues that more serious disease will likely follow.” - Dr. Casey Means

The digestive discomfort, minor aches, pains, or crackling joints are your body's subtle signals that it requires attention before the symptoms escalate. Or, if you are struggling with a chronic or systemic health condition, have you considered the causative factors that could be exacerbating your ongoing symptoms, despite the assistance of medications?

As a former teacher, I approach my personal healthcare much like I would select curriculum guides to meet specific goals and needs. Instead of relying on a single system for better understanding any health imbalances, I turn to integrated healthcare that includes modern medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ayurveda, or other systems that draw upon the strengths of their respective practices. I value my primary care doctor’s interpretation of my bloodwork results. I appreciate the TCM doctor’s approach to using specific herbs to treat a chronic condition. And I respect Ayurveda’s approach to understanding the root cause of a health issue and using a slow and steady method to improve well-being at the cellular level.

When my colleagues recommended Dr. Means’s book, Good Energy, I was drawn to her core message which closely aligns with Ayurveda’s holistic approach for maintaining health span. Our daily choices and routines significantly influence cellular health, the digestion and metabolism of food, and the overall functioning of our organs. Although I would not personally recommend several of the recipes in her book for a healthy person and especially those who have GI disorders, the main focal points about using wholesome food and non-negotiable lifestyle practices are synonymous with basic Ayurvedic principles.

Through the lens of Ayurveda, good energy correlates to the unobstructed flow of prana that keeps our cells nourished, supported, and free from metabolic dysfunction. If you are seeking a scientifically grounded approach for empowered health, consider this book your next read.
