Nourish Your Gut Health With Takra

What is Takra?

Takra, an Ayurvedic buttermilk, serves as a natural probiotic drink that purifies and lubricates the gastrointestinal lining. It facilitates the digestive system's ability to break down consumed food more efficiently and enhances the metabolic process.

Benefits of Takra:

Takra is beneficial for all body-mind types, particularly those experiencing GI disorders. Although it is cool to the touch, upon consumption, takra acts as a warming agent that helps regulate the gastrointestinal system and promotes a consistent downward movement of food, thereby improving metabolism and nutrient absorption in the body's specific organs. Furthermore, the sweet post-digestive effects of takra facilitate elimination. The calcium present in takra helps reduce inflammation and soothes excess internal heat. Its natural cooling properties make takra an excellent electrolyte drink during summer months.

Refer to the instructional video above for preparing your own takra at home. It is simple to make in just under 5 minutes. Straining and removing the fat content in the preparation of takra results in an easily digestible probiotic that promotes gut health. This method offers a more cost-effective, sugar-free, and fresher alternative to store-bought probiotics.

  • 1/2 C whole milk yogurt, non-homogenized

  • 2 C cool, filtered water

  • Blender and strainer
